She
glanced herself in the mirror.

is their tenth wedding anniversary

looks at the wall clock for the umpteenth time.
“He
is late”, she tells herself.

second seemed like an hour.
Finally,
the doorbell rings,

flies to answer it.

today he had a sheepish grin on his face.

is dejected to see his empty hands.

welled up in her eyes.

tiny little mite, stood there holding her ragged doll.

hugged her, showered her with kisses.

had longed to hold her since she saw her during her annual orphanage visit
couple of months back.

cute little dimple on her right cheek,

shiny blue-green eyes had mesmerized her,

moment she had seen her.
She welcomed her inside their home and got busy, fussing over her.
He
smiled and heaved a sigh of relief.
