D for Darkness

As the night progressed,
So did the darkness…
The sole, flickering street light
Seldom offered relief.

A pitiful cry cut through the silence of the night…
An innocent soul was begging for mercy.
 “Please let me go”…
She pleaded to the devils of the night.
But her pleas fell on deaf ears,
And she was swallowed by the horrors of that dark night…

The sole witness of the horror,
The bright moon thought,

‘The morning sun will drive away the night darkness,
But who will banish the darkness residing within?’

  2. I'm reading a JD Robb murder mystery at the moment - this fitted perfectly with the atmosphere of the novel!

  5. Beautiful. I love the last line...the sun always cheers me up but I can relate to wondering the same thing. I live in the Pacific Northwest, which feels dark often. I will be back to read more. I am doing my first A-Z Challenge this year. Cheers~ Vikki J. Carter

    1. Thanks Deepa...yes the darkness within is increasing seeing the number of crimes towards women increasing sometime it feels like we are going backwards rather than forward :(

  10. This is so sadly apt. Will anything ever drive out the madness, the darkness of depravity?
